Mahagi: The boarding school of the Saints Enfants de Fatima School Complex now operational

The bishop of the diocese of Mahagi-Nioka proceeded this Thursday, December 19, 2024, to the blessing and inauguration of the boarding school of the Saints Enfants de Fatima School Complex, a school of Caritas Development Mahagi-Nioka.

The festivities began with a mass that Mgr Sosthene Ayikuli personally presided at the Notre-Dame de Lourdes Cathedral in Mahagi. In his homily, he invited the children of the Saints Enfants de Fatima School Complex to prepare for the coming of Christ.

“For Christmas, the Church wants you to prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus. This time of preparation reminds us of the people who helped open hearts to welcome Christ. Many characters played an essential role in the birth of the Son of God, such as the Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph, the announcing Angel, and John the Baptist... Today's gospel evokes John the Baptist who prepares the hearts of people to receive the Son of God,” underlined the pastor of Mahagi-Nioka.

He also added: “The mission of John the Baptist is to prepare the sons of Israel to turn to God, to receive God, and to reconcile the hearts of the fathers and their children. »

After the mass, the blessing and inauguration ceremony took place. Monsignor Sosthène Ayikuli cut the ribbon marking the start of the blessing ceremony of this boarding school located in the Drii district in the commune of Mahagi. In front of around a hundred personalities, including national education authorities, religious authorities and other guests, the Director of Caritas Development Mahagi-Nioka raised awareness among parents to enroll their children in boarding school for better supervision and regular monitoring.

“The boarding school is built and equipped. Parents wonder when their children will be welcomed here. We have proposed that the children who will be welcomed come to the boarding school on Sunday January 5, 2025, and that they settle in that same evening to begin to familiarize themselves with their new environment,” explained Father Prosper Rugamba.

Numerous speeches were made, all encouraging the bishop's initiative through Caritas Development Mahagi-Nioka, which not only built a modern boarding school for the schoolchildren of the Saints Enfants de Fatima School Complex, but also a school respecting the required standards.

During the fraternal agapé which closed the ceremony, Monseigneur the Bishop warmly thanked the guests for their presence as well as the engineers and builders for their creativity and dedication in the execution of their profession.
